Peter A. Dettling, born in 1972 in Chur - Switzerland, is an award-winning photo-
grapher and painter whose passion for the natural world has taken him all over the globe, from the Galapagos Islands to Alaska’s far north, and from the Grand Canyon to the Swiss Alps.
In 2002 he moved permanently from the heart of the Swiss Alps to the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Since Peter was a child he was deeply moved by people who work passionately for saving the last remaining pristine enviroments and the wild animals that live in them. Since he became an artist he has been looking for a way to combine his art with his passion for conservation issues.

All of the images on this webpages are “Real moments in nature”. All images show wild roaming animals and real, wild places. They capture the essence and diversity of the world’s last great places, that remain.

EQUIPMENT

Peter works mainly with small and medium format SLR cameras of the highest professional quality (Canon EOS 1V 35mmSLR camera with L-lenses ranging anywhere from 17mm f2.8 up to 500mm f4), Medium Format: Fuji 645 AFD). He exclusively uses Fuji slide film (Velvia 50, Velvia 100 F, Provia 100 + 400) Since 2004 he also works with a digital SLR camera (Canon EOS 1D Mark II , 8.2 megapixels).

SKILLS / EDUCATION

Graduated by winning several awards (including best color picture + 2nd best overall portfolio) from the Western Academy of Photography in Victoria, BC-Canada.

EXPERTICE AND QUALIFICATION

Peter specializes in capturing the beauty of remote corners of all over the world. He enjoys particularly taking still imagery of wildlife, scenery and people enjoying the outdoors (prefers non-motorized access) in the backcountry.
